Eschatologia means the study of the last things, while Eschatophobia is the fear of the last things.

The study of the end times is not meant to frighten us but to prepare and awaken believers to live ready for the coming of the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:52 (NIV)
“In a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.”

This teaching is crucial—it keeps us from being caught unprepared like the five foolish virgins who missed the bridegroom’s arrival.
Understanding the last things helps us stand among the wise, not the foolish.

The Trumpet and the Clarion Call

Numbers 10:1–3 (NIV)
“The Lord said to Moses: ‘Make two trumpets of hammered silver, and use them for calling the community together and for having the camps set out. When both are sounded, the whole community is to assemble before you at the entrance to the tent of meeting.’”

From the days of Moses, trumpets were used as signals for divine movement—a call for the people to assemble or march.

Likewise, the last trumpet will signal the greatest movement in human history:
the departure of believers to their eternal home.

This will be the Clarion Call—a heavenly sound that will bewilder the world but bless the prepared.

The Sound of Distinction

Numbers 10:3 (NIV)
“When both are sounded, the whole community is to assemble before you at the entrance to the tent of meeting.”

The trumpets used in Israel were handmade to ensure a distinctive sound. God wanted a call that could not be confused with any other.

In the same way, God’s call to His people is always unique—clear, personal, and unmistakable.

Joshua 6:1–5 (NIV)
“Now the gates of Jericho were securely barred because of the Israelites. No one went out and no one came in. Then the Lord said to Joshua, ‘See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in.’”

At the sound of God’s trumpet today:

• Every wall of opposition will crumble.
• Every chain of witchcraft will break.
• Restoration will be released.

The trumpet of the Lord brings victory, deliverance, and new direction.

The Fear and the Ignorance

Matthew 24:1–14 (NIV)
“Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. ‘Do you see all these things?’ he asked. ‘Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.’ … ‘Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, “I am the Messiah,” and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed… Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.’”

1 Thessalonians 4:13–17 (NIV)
“Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him… For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.”

Many people panic when it comes to end-time teachings, but fear often stems from ignorance.
Just like exam anxiety arises from lack of preparation, fear of the end times arises from not knowing God’s Word.

Hosea 4:6 (NIV)
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.”

Ignorance causes people to mourn without hope, but knowledge brings peace and confidence in God’s plan.

The Disciples’ Questions

When Jesus spoke about the destruction of the temple, His disciples asked three vital questions:

1. When will these things happen? — There is an appointed time.
2. What will be the sign? — There will be clear indicators.
3. What will be the end? — There is a definite conclusion.

Israel took immense pride in their temple, believing it could never be destroyed.
So when Jesus said, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up,” they misunderstood Him—calling for His crucifixion without perceiving the spiritual meaning of His words.

Lessons from Modern Times

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the world witnessed how fragile our systems truly are.
Money was thrown in the streets, stadiums were empty, flights grounded.
Everything people gloried in suddenly became meaningless.

What we thought was strong was shaken overnight.

Hebrews 12:26 (NIV)
“At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, ‘Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.’”

God allows shaking so that only what is eternal will remain.

The Uncertain Hour

Jesus never gave His disciples a specific date for the end.
Even after His resurrection, they asked in Acts 1:6–7 (NIV):
“Then they gathered around him and asked him, ‘Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?’ He said to them: ‘It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.’”

Mark 13:32 (NIV)
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”

Jesus shifted their focus from curiosity to caution.
He gave them signs and pointers to stay prepared for the Clarion Call.

The Second Return of Christ

When Jesus returns the second time, He will come physically and visibly.
He will stand on the Mount of Olives, as foretold in Zechariah 14:4 (NIV):
“On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley.”

He will come with multitudes of heaven—together with the redeemed saints.
His second coming will mark the final victory and the establishment of His eternal reign.

The Reign of the Antichrist

As pre-tribulation and premillennial believers, we hold that the Church will not go through the Great Tribulation.

2 Thessalonians 2:6–7 (NIV)
“And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.”

Once the Church is raptured, the Restrainer will be removed, and the Antichrist will be revealed to unleash chaos on earth.

Those who miss the rapture will face the tribulation period.

During that time:

• The Church will be with Christ in the air.
• We will celebrate the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.
• We will receive crowns and rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ.

After seven years, the saints will return with Christ to reign on earth.

Conclusion

The trumpet will sound. The Clarion Call will come.

The question is not if, but when—and more importantly, are you ready?

This is not a season for fear but for faith.
Not a time for confusion but for preparation.

When the Clarion Call sounds, may we be found among the wise, ready to meet our Lord and Savior.
